PHINEAS AND BROTHER BLUE

Today Phineas was given a gift of a story: A young boy had nothing at all but wanted a playhouse. The boy's parents scolded him when he asked them for one, so he went outside to build a playhouse for himself. The boy discovered a special place in the dirt for his house and then found a piece of wood - a slat from an orange crate - to use as the floor. The ceiling of his house would be the sky. He could do without walls; nothing held up the sky after all. The boy slept the night in his house and when he woke up his ceiling turned from deep blue to orange. He understood then that the whole world was his house with special places everywhere.

That little boy was Brother Blue and he told that extemporaneous story about a playhouse for Phineas because Phineas' dad is an architect. When Phineas' dad was a boy he used to listen to Brother Blue tell stories so it was a happy surprise for Alex, Chris and Phin to run into Brother Blue yesterday at the Roxbury Community College bookfair.
