AT THE EDGE OF THE GREAT RIFT VALLEY



I am standing on top of the western escarpment of part the Great Rift Valley. In the background is Lake Manyara, an evaporative lake in the Valley. The road up the escarpment was deeply rutted and very rough. We probably averaged 2 mph. But this is the view from the top--quite worth it.
